close my heart to survive
else tear it open to
blood soaked bricks
in foundations cracked

bleeding heart basis
for love lost and loves crossed
but i didn’t stumble into this
alone.

alone. a word drives
fear, spirals, drags me down
grasp my heart lest it fall, alone, down sewer grates

let cold set in
bitterly seen breaths
bring biting evenings on
pins and needles

why fear the warmth that comfort brings?
why fear the love that lets hearts sing?
why let the dark and cold be much other
than home in the night, enveloping you?
