it should be easier to be stronger.
triumph over oneself being so easy should make it
more effective a cure but

every time it’s like
drawing entrails out of an open wound
furiously pulling nerves

drags me screaming back to
saliency
knowing that at the end of it all

you’ll never know how much your callousness
hurts, aches
until it stops
